Alive
The morning felt emptier than usual.
The heat lay heavy over everything and made even time pass more slowly. And yet she couldn't find any real rest. Something inside her was waiting. Patiently, but no longer quite still.
Her thoughts were doing somersaults. Again and again she felt this small wave deep in her belly, hardly noticeable – and yet a little more distinct each time.
The music she had chosen for this day seemed to be made exactly for this. With her eyes closed, she let herself be carried away by the sounds. Images emerged, first blurry, then clearer. Thoughts turned into feelings, feelings into small scenes that she could no longer just think, but almost feel.
And beneath it all, something was simmering.
This old fire.
For a long time, it had been content with a place just below the surface. But today it seemed to be growing more restless.
She remembered how easy it had once been to let it out.
How liberating.
How alive.
And how often she had wanted to find this state again afterwards.
A small smile flitted across her face.
Perhaps the real question had long since ceased to be whether the wave would come back.
But only how long it would take for it to find its own way back up. 🖤
